The "Handmaid's Story" star and her significant other of almost four years had stayed quiet about the pregnancy before the Mother's Day declaration. 

Samira Wiley observed Mother's Day by reporting that she and her better half, Lauren Morelli, had become first-time mothers. 

The Emmy-winning "Handmaid's Story" entertainer acquainted fans with her little girl, George Elizabeth, on Instagram early Monday. In the subtitle going with the lovable photograph, she noticed that Morelli ― whose pregnancy had been left hidden from the media ― had been in the process of giving birth for three days prior to conveying the child April 11. 





Welcome to the world, babygirl," she wrote in the post. "We love you and we thank you for giving us the best first Mother's Day two women could want. 

Wiley and Morelli, a screenwriter whose credits incorporate "Orange The latest trend Dark" and "Stories of the City," wedded in 2017. The pair met five years sooner on the arrangement of "OITNB," in which Wiley featured as Poussey Washington. 

In 2014, Morelli declared in a Mic article that she was gay, clarifying that her work on "OITNB" had made her resolved to live truly. "I went through everything on set: I began to look all starry eyed at a lady, and I watched my life work out on screen," she composed at that point. "Also, presently, as we are preparing for the arrival of season 2, it feels freeing and fitting to carry on with my life before you." 

That very year, she sought legal separation from her then-spouse, Steve Basilone.
